I’ve been thinking about this for a while and realized that it’s still worth personalizing your opinion without presenting everything as an objective point of view. And to further personalize the question, in the introductory part I will talk about my past.
I was born in South Korea, where my parents moved five years before the collapse of the Soviet Union. I couldn’t understand this culture, even though I stayed in it for almost fifteen years. On the one hand, it is similar to modern Russia, and on the other, it is a kind of cross between pre-communist China and the USA of the 80s. These are the impressions I got.
I never learned the language. Even https://we88casino.co.uk/ English was difficult for me in those years, but still I somehow got into communication with the neighborhood kids. And just when I started to get used to it, my parents received permission to move to Canada. It was there, at the age of 15, that I became acquainted with the Internet and numerous forums. I must say that I was not interested in games and am not much interested, and all my free time was spent discussing various topics: cinema, books, people, philosophy, linguistics, etc. Although I still know critically little, at the student-school level, the discussions were very vigorous.
And then we returned to Russia. And that was something. I absolutely did not understand and do not understand the Russian culture of communication, although I always considered myself Russian. Now I just don’t know who I am. And the whole point is (again per.op.), that any, even the worst, discussion in the Russian sector is possible only in a closed, small community, where the influx of “fresh blood” is rare and controlled. But all attempts to start a discussion on such an old-fag resource end in accusations of new-fagism and ignorance of the canons. Of course there are, of course you can find excellent interlocutors, but I can’t find a permanent place where they would live. Perhaps on the boards, but the number of young talents who are not so much getting involved in the dispute as trying to mark themselves as skeptics of cosmic proportions is off the charts.
Another problem that I encountered as a “non-Russian” was the rejection of a sharply negative point of view on the canon, or the rejection of conservatism (think about it, not even innovation, but conservatism). Regarding the first: yes, I don’t like the plot of the new Bioshock, and yes, I dared to express my opinion on the gaming forum, backing everything up with MY guesses and justifications. And was showered with poop and called a fat troll. No one even tried to express anything against. Regarding the second: yes, I believe that women are not yet capable of achieving success in some areas of knowledge. I again cited my personal experience, which consisted in the behavior of the teacher of a philosophy course at my former college. I was waiting for my point of view to be challenged, to be convinced. But “feminists” came running and trampled my opinion into a ban with the words “I achieved everything myself, and you guys are not capable of anything.”.
At the time of writing the text in the “test input field” on this blog, I read an article about “the failure of the plot of Bioshock Infinite, or how people are being cheated out of dollars” (that’s roughly what it’s called), and under it there were a lot of approving comments. And everything would be fine, but this is a post from a famous blogger, with the maximum number of ratings on the resource. If we compare similar articles, this noname blogger did not say anything new, but he won over many more users than those small “trolls”.
It turned out chaotic and crumpled, but I’ll still summarize: in any close-knit community in Russia, as in Russian politics, authoritarianism reigns. A small group of “authoritative experts” determines the majority opinion, even the opinion about games, a purely subjective experience (actually like books/movies). And this majority, guided by someone else’s opinion (sometimes without even trying the product about which they have an opinion), try to challenge the opposite subjective opinion. And since they themselves (the majority) cannot make up their own impressions (I don’t know why, don’t even ask), then the whole argument turns into this very throwing of feces, like “You didn’t understand the plot! There is a deep philosophical meaning! I had your mom in all poses!»
P.S. I don’t dispute the presence of educated people on the Internet who are able to substantiate their point of view.
