Story Lust for Darkness in some places almost stolen from the last film Stanley Kubrick (Stanley Kubrick) "Eyes Wide Shut", but not without its own charm. Imagine that the main character comes to a Victorian mansion, where masked men and women perform strange rituals and organize orgies. But the local sectarians are not only concerned and dangerous, but also well-read. And they clearly read Lovecraft (Howard Lovecraft). They believe in the coming of their own lustful Cthulhu, who will arrange for them the eternal bliss of constant copulation, a sexual paradise – only not on Earth, but on a completely different planet and in another dimension..
To this hero’s mansion Lust for Darkness, Jonathan was led by an unexpected letter from his wife Amanda, who disappeared a year ago and, as it turned out, had been here as a prisoner all this time. Now she asks to get into the castle, find her and help. This is not easy to do, just like Tom Cruise (Tom Cruise) from the above-mentioned picture, Jonathan has to put on a carnival mask and costume, and instead of a password at the entrance, use a stolen invitation letter.
Opening the door, he finds himself in a porno-erotic dream come true (it’s very difficult to draw the line here) of some overly anxious friend. Everywhere there are images of male and female genitalia, devices and toys that look like they were taken from Victorian sex shops (if they existed), paintings of naked men and women, sculptures of naked men and women. And all around there are naked men and women doing what they can do in games rated 18+.
But this is not just a sex orgy, but actually a ritual. Cultists led by Willard, the owner of the mansion, kidnapper and rapist (sort of) of Amanda, are waiting for the portal to open to Lusst’ghaa – a world of eternal lust, where the local porn-Cthulhu rules, and all the inhabitants have changed their bodies so as to constantly experience carnal pleasures, that is, they have actually degraded to the state of eternally intercourse rabbits.
From an artistic point of https://casinocosmobet.co.uk/ view, this world turned out to be very interesting. No, I’m not talking about images and sculptures of genitals scattered throughout the locations. The Lusst’ghaa dimension, despite all its pornographic slant and all those doors and portals in the form of female genital organs, is clearly inspired by the work of the brilliant Zdzislaw Beksinski – and in some places everything is done so well that you want to stop and just stare, as if you were at some kind of art exhibition.
In such scenery, of course, a sexual paradise could hardly have arisen. And after the opening of the portal to Lusst’ghaa, everything does not go as the sectarians expected: for many of them, this paradise turned into a very specific hell. And Jonathan, in order to deal with Willard and save Amanda, now has to constantly run from one portal to another, moving between two worlds, periodically solving riddles, examining objects, collecting notes and running away from the unpleasant inhabitants of Lusst’ghaa.
The riddles are about the same. Typically you have to turn a lever or find one and insert it to turn it; select the code; open the doors, again correctly turning the discs on the lock so that they form a symbol. Once during the entire game in the world of dubious pleasures you need to bypass a simple trap, and sometimes you have to put on a special mask that allows you to see a hidden passage or run where without a mask you would fall and die. But you can’t wear it for long – the hero will go crazy.
And indeed, our Jonathan turned out to be a very sensitive person. When he sees corpses and scenes of violence in general, he becomes noticeably agitated – his breathing quickens, the screen turns red and begins to shake. Not to mention the times he’s being chased by one of the horny monsters or a naked, masked Willard. It must be admitted that at such moments the player feels uneasy – enemies always appear unexpectedly, the music is unnerving, and in general it’s somehow unpleasant when a naked man in a mask is chasing you..
True, some sophisticated games with enemies and monsters in the spirit Outlast, Amnesia or God forgive me, Agony V Lust for Darkness No. As a rule, you just need to quickly run away or put on a mask and calmly walk past. There are also stealth elements, but they occur literally a couple of times and are made at a rudimentary level. When they notice you in such episodes, the music starts blaring so loudly that you involuntarily jump up and start yelling obscenities.
As you can see, Lust for Darkness turned out to be not only and not so much a simulator of an observer of depraved orgies (although that too), as one might conclude after watching some of the trailers. Compared to the same Agony and The Dark Inside Me, where sex, pornography, horror and violence are served in one bottle, this is a more sane and classic horror adventure in the spirit Penumbra And Amnesia.
Another question is what Lust for Darkness in comparison with them, the game is more primitive. The tasks are simple (the code for the lock to the box can be found on the back of the box!), the final battle with the main villain leaves the authors feeling embarrassed (although it is not without its charm). And the outcome of this whole story is too predictable (and in the very end, again, there is an obvious reference to the film Kubrick, which, however, can be considered a deliberate wink to experts). This is a simplified video game version of the film "Eyes Wide Shut", in which deep psychologism is replaced by eroticism. If that tells you anything, I’d recommend Lust for Darkness at least to get acquainted. In addition to tits, there is suspense, tension, taste and style, as well as a completely Lovecraftian atmosphere, albeit shown from an unexpected angle.
Pros: an unexpected mixture of eroticism and Lovecraftian horror; interesting art style; you can feel your charm and atmosphere; great music.
Cons: simple riddles and game mechanics; predictable plot; overdoing the genitals.
